WHAT
DO YOU LIKE MOST ABOUT YOUR PROFESSION?
I
love music in general, and always have had a love for music for as long as I
can remember honestly. It does something to me when I’m doing it, producing it,
or let alone even just around the creative process of it. It gives me a chance
to be me. Express myself through songs, and that’s just a good feeling.
HOW
LONG HAVE YOU BEEN DOING THIS?
I’ve
been dealing with music, mostly all my life actually. I started rapping in
Elementary School, and eventually I started producing and engineering at around
18 or 19; when I was in the US Air Force.
ARE
YOU HAPPY NOW?
I’m
very much happy now. Things are off to a great start, and I can honestly see
the progression; and that feels good considering how long I’ve been around
grinding. I feel that I could be further along than I currently am, but who
doesn’t feel that way.
IF
YOU COULD GO BACK IN TIME, WHAT WOULD YOU DO DIFFERENTLY?
If
there was anything I would say I would change, is I would have ventured outside
of the city sooner than I did when the opportunities presented themselves. I
can say I “Feared Success” in so many words, and was always over critical of my
work. Other than that, I wouldn’t change a thing. God allows things to happen
when they happen, so I’m just playing my part and doing what I got to do.
HOW
HARD DO YOU PUSH YOURSELF?
I’m
harder on myself than anyone else is, so with that being said; I push myself
like a horse. I’ve learned so much and built so many relationships through
pushing myself as hard as I do. I honestly feel like I can push harder than I
am at the moment, but that’s just the over critical part of myself speaking.
WHEN
ARE YOU COMPLETELY SATISFIED WITH YOUR WORK?
When
I can sit back and repeatedly listen to something over and over again, and not
have that feeling of “I should have, would have, or could have”; I usually
satisfied.
WHAT'S
THE MAGIC FORMULA FOR SUCCESS?
Really
I don’t consider it being a formula. I just go in and have fun doing what I
love to do, and from that comes what you hear now. I feel like people think to
hard with they music, trying to be like the next artist; rather than just
letting it flow naturally.
WHAT
ARE YOU LISTENING TO LATELY?
I
listen to some of everything honestly. I been listening to a lot of TI, like
hands down dude to me is the truth. Of course a little Marvin Gaye, Al Green,
The Temptations, David Ruffin, Willie Hutch, Ohio Playas, Lil Wayne, Yo Gotti,
Jay-Z, Kayne, Twista, Tech N9ne, Archangel, YTG The Movement, Dp Da Don,
J.Solid, 8Ball & MJG, 9 Inch Nails, Weeknd, Green Day, J. Cole, Mariah
Carey, Monica, Rocko (Dude a beast), Young Turk (YNT), AC/DC, Celine Dion, John
P. Kee, Kirk Franklin, Mary Mary, Adelle, Fantasia, Beyonce, Keri Hilson,
Ciara, B.O.B, Reba McEntire, John Legend, Rick Ross, Michael Jackson, and a lot
of local Memphis Music… If it’s good music, regardless the genre; I can listen
to it. I just love music.
WHAT'S
YOUR FAVORITE ALBUM BY ANOTHER ARTIST?
My
favorite album would have to be between TI’s “Paper Trail” album, his “Trouble
Man” album, and Michael Jackson’s Thriller album… I’m leaning more with MJ,
since I’ve always listened to him as a kid!
WHAT
SONG OF YOURS ARE YOU MOST PROUD OF? WHY?
I
would have to say “My Life”. I actually wrote this song when I was like about
24, just walking around the house rapping to myself. Then about 27 or 28, I was
going thru a lot of family issues; and it was something that really started as
a stress reliever. When my guys heard it, they was like “that’s it”. So like a
shortly after I did a slide show video and I posted it online. The response I
got from the song was crazy. I never knew that the things I was going thru
would touch another person’s life in the manner it did. This came from young
and old, and it really had me like amazed. So we turned around and shot a video
for it like a year later, and till this day; people still mention that
particular song to me. I love it!
ARE
THERE ANY SONGS YOU'VE DONE THAT YOU WISH YOU HADN'T?
Honestly
no. I don’t there is a song that I’ve done yet, that I feel like I shouldn’t
have. I’m pretty much honest with myself. If there is something that I don’t
like, 9 times out of 10; you’ll never hear it. I look at it like this: This is
going to represent me and my brand for years to come, so if something doesn’t
fit the perception that I want for my brand; you’ll never hear or see it.
ARE
THERE ANY PROJECTS THAT YOU’RE WORKING ON?
I’m
currently working on my upcoming mixtape, which I have yet to title; but it
will feature my LEAD OFF SINGLE: “Moment Of Silence” [Prod. By The Trak-A-Holikahz].
I’m also working with quite a few up and coming artists from Memphis like Mac
Butta and Sum Macnificent of YTG The Movement, Money Merk and his “Money Over
All” Mixtape, I just finished up mixing MTF Cartel recording artist Dp Da Don’s
“HT1 – Hood Therapy” Mixtape, as well as host of other things I got going both
on and off the music.
IS
THIS YOUR FIRST ALBUM?
No
this is actually like my fifth of sixth project, but this is the first one that
I’m about to present commercially. So I guess you can say it is.
WHAT’S
NEXT FOR YOU?
